Reusable bags are more popular now than ever before, with an amazing selection of bags available made from eco fabrics including paper, natural fibres such as cotton, and even polypropylene.
Polypropylene is a hugely versatile type of plastic, used for making a variety of items from lunch boxes to bags! Here at Neway Textile, we have two options available for polypropylene bags, non-woven PP and woven PP, and whilst these bags are fairly similar we’ve outlined the difference for you.
So, what is the difference between woven PP and non-woven PP bags?
Non-woven and woven polypropylene are made from the same type of plastic resin, but they do differ in the way that they are formed.
Woven polypropylene consists of polypropylene plastic threads that are woven together, creating a durable material with a great deal of flexibility and strength. In contrast, non-woven polypropylene bags are bonded together instead of woven by fusing the fibres using heat and pressure.
While both woven and non-woven PP bags offer excellent durability, woven bags create a heavier duty material that can withstand more pressure and weight which is why these bags are often used for parcel collections or for bags that need to be able to hold a lot of weight without risk of giving in.
Both types of PP bags are 100% recyclable, being just one step away from the bio-based plastics at the best end of the Greenpeace pyramid of plastics. Plus, there is the added benefit of this material being waterproof when finished with a laminated film, helping to protect contents from moisture.
Our printed non-woven PP and woven PP bags are available in a range of vibrant colors and can be dyed to suit your design and your brand. Your design can be printed over the whole of the bag surface as we reverse print on to a matt or gloss lamination.
